Blonde Almond’s travel picks of the week

5.8:  O – M – Geee! Check out this restaurant…

Pretty spectacular eh? 5.8 may not be the world’s first underwater restaurant, but it’s the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant, sitting 5.8 metres below the surface. And it’s just about to open, at the new Hurawalhi Island Resort in the Maldives. At the time of writing I couldn’t get my hands on a menu – watch this space.

Heli-biking, Nepal: For those of you who take your trips with a heady dose of action, this new escape from Lost Earth Adventures will get your adrenalin pumping. Joined by a privately chartered helicopter, pilot and mountain guide, you’ll soar to the west of Annapurna with epic views of the world’s highest mountains, before landing and tackling some hair-raising downhill tracks. From £5,000 per person.

Lobos Soho: I’ve had a soft spot for Lobos Meat and Tapas, by Borough Market, ever since I sunk my teeth into its pork cheeks. It’s a winner and super popular, so little wonder it’s opened another branch on Soho’s Frith Street. As well as the usual suspects (patatas bravas, garlic prawns, anchovies), it’s the big meaty plates that set this menu apart: lobster and chicken pot with seafood sauce, slow-roasted Castilian milk-fed lamb, and sirloin on the bone. Get me a table!
